Former Giants start wine label

What is it with former ballplayers and wine? I don't know either. But I do know that two former Giants have ventured into the wine industry and created their own wine label. Dave Roberts and Rich Aurilia have teamed with several other folks to create Red Stitch wine based out of Napa, Calif. Compared to other labels/vineyards Red Stitch is just an infant. Obviously, they're looking to start slow and building the distribution network as they go along.

I haven't had the chance to taste their vino, but by all accounts, their current release has received great reviews with high marks. In addition to Dave and Richie, Mike Krukow is on their advisory board too. For those that don't know, Mike was actually in the restaurant business after his playing career ended and has developed quite a palate and liking for wines throughout the years.

As of date only one wine is currently available,  2007 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, at $75 per bottle. From what I gather you can only purchase it online at the moment, and only two restaurants in the City have added Red Stitch to their wine list, Boulevard and Gary Danko.
