It's time for the Giants to unload some players from the 40-man roster

No question, this has been a horrendous 2nd half of the season for the Giants, but more apparent is that some players no longer serve a value to this team for any purpose. Most notably, Mark DeRosa and Pat Burrell, one might add Barry Zito to the mix but his situation is a bit more complicated compared to DeRosa and Burrell.

With September around the corner, and the obvious need to add some pop and speed to this lineup (i.e. waiver claims), it's time to cut the cord on DeRosa and Burrell. DeRosa has been an absolute bust since he signed with the Giants, and Burrell is a shadow of himself from last year. In all honestly, do the Giants think either one of these guys are going to contribute going into the final month of the season? We all know the answer to that question.

The front office needs to spark this team with some new additions, and cut the fat that's on this team. Activate Burrell, and then release him, and flat out release DeRosa.
