Jonathan Sanchez traded to KC for Melky Cabrera

Well, it's been discussed since the end of the season that Jonathan's future with San Francisco was coming to an end, and today it did. Sanchy, along with Ryan Verdugo, were dealt to Kansas City for outfielder Melky Cabrera.

Clearly, the Giants were frustrated with Jonathan's maturation as a starting pitcher, his inconsistency on the mound, and his mental makeup were the downfall to his tenure with the Giants. Nevertheless, no Giants fan should dismiss his contributions to the club. Remember, he sealed the 2010 NL West division on the last day of the season, which led to a World Series title for the club.

In Cabrera, this might be the leadoff centerfielder they've been looking for. He had a career year this past season with Kansas City, but it will be interesting how he adjusts on hitting regularly at AT&T Park. The postseason is also something Melky is familiar with, having appeared in the playoffs in four different seasons, and helping the Yankees win the World Series in 2009.
